We started with "ai" doing image recognition, then video, then generating code, images, video, audio.
Then we moved into controlling computers using a mixture of the above, and moved onto 'fakes' of people.
I should have seen the next one coming and in a way it feels even worse.
E-Mail?
An AI bot that can receive and reply to e-mail for you, and that means when it can already register for website accounts, now it can handle the full path for you.
How can you trust what's posted on a website when it can launch a headless browser and even handle recaptcha and what's in the head?
I'm now also seeing multiple camps, people undoubtedly using AI for tooling and to assist them, perhaps seen as 'better' than fully using it to "generate what you didn't create or understand" from "other people's work" (though custom models can exist), and those who are dead set against it (well no surprise when you see the price hike of computer hardware, the drought of the water supply and the strain on the electrical grid).
Feels like we're at a transition point and there's no good stance to be in without being judged, and without knowing how to best assess "should I be glad that this thing was created without gatekeeping, or should I be upset as to what it took to get here?".
I have mixed feelings.
