Is Immersive Virtual Reality a current trend on Edge devices?

The purpose of this poll is to find the direction Edge AI is moving. The growing popularity and use of Deep Learning (DL) has led to a fast growth of many intelligent consumer devices. The key elements of AI are now moved from the Cloud to embedded devices and sensors, thus heralding Edge AI. Do you think Immersive VR will be a trend in this context? Do not hesitate to share your opinion.

    I'm seeing all these polling posts recently with strange questions as a good reminder of what will be possible from bots : )

    Have you seen GPT-2 on the 'net? Quite interesting how much realistic-sounding stuff it can output! : )

    I tried installing it on a Pi about half a year ago.. got bored I think so I didn't complete.

    I had not seen GPT-2 before.  The unicorn story they generated is great.  Maybe someone is using GPT-2 to write the news :-)  At least I hope what I am reading in the news isn't real...

    @ Shabaz - I shall report this one for moderation - it certainly seems a very strange series of polls and the creator has not responded to direct comments.

    Michael- I'm really sorry for the delay in my answer. I want to know the future of Edge AI-and thus the question!

     

    What is your opinion? Is VR a current trend on AI devices? If yes, why?

    I'll be honest with you here, your poll questions look rather odd. I know you work for E14 but that seems to me to be a mis-use of the poll system.

     

    If you want a discussion about "Edge AI" the best way to start one is perhaps with a blog about what you've found out so far and what it is you want to know.

    You'll have noticed that the responses to your poll are very limited and not very instructive.

     

    For what it's worth I'll give you my opinion re VR and AI :

     

    AI is being massively over-hyped, I have not yet seen a single system that I would consider worthy of the name yet. I've seen a lot of simple pattern recognition systems based on what we used to call neural networks.

    "Edge" and "Industry 4" are another couple of near meaningless terms - trendy but not very specific.

     

    In as much as I understand the term "Immersive Virtual Reality Edge device", you might mean a factory inspection system with a human wearing those silly goggles - I haven't seen one and, outside a Uni, I don't expect to.

     

    Combining present state "AI" with VR seems like a waste of time - if you know of any current products or applications please tell us about them.

    Michael- I thank you for your answer.  I framed the question to know readers' opinions. I myself have doubts about some aspects and thus raised this poll.
