Catwell
Catwell over 15 years ago

I need the following Tyco RJ-45 Panel Mount Circular ConnectorTyco RJ-45 Panel Mount Circular Connector, but with a screw down terminal block instead of a 12" attached cable.

I have bought them before, but I can no longer find them anywhere.

This part is actually to a PCB that you would need to solder wire to.

For the original part though are you sure its a Tyco?

Right, This is the Tyco part with the 12" cordTyco part with the 12" cord.

Yes, it looks the exact same, but has a breakout screw down terminal block.

Hi Cabe,  See if you can find a part that will work for you on the Molex website. Check out our Circular Industrial Connectors overview page. Once you find the part you want, you can probably order it from Newark/Farnell.  Let me know if you have any questions.

    Molex,

I looked through your catalogue, and I can not find the rj45 (Ethernet) receptacles. Can you help me with that?

Yes, one more question. Can you help me find all of those at Newark or the Element14 store?

Perhaps one of the Newark or E-14 members on the site can help you locate a part if you list which part you are looking for.  You can also go back to the link I provided to you.  Click on a part number you want.  We offer an option to see right away which distributors have the part in stock. Just click on "Check Distributor Inventory" I have a screen shot attached for you. Please let me know if you need additional help with this.  Thanks.

www.findchips.com is a very well source to locate a part in many reseller like Digi-Key,Newark,Farnell etc.

Looking through the parts Molex offeres I did not see any that have a  terminal block termination. The unique parts that I saw was a punch down  would be like a typical RJ-45  terminaion (IDC) and cable assembly that would be from connector to connector.

I talked with Tyco Tech Support and  they couldn't find any that had for a terminal block. Also browsed  thorugh Amphenol's and they had the same terminations as Tyco.

    Cabe,

You don't happen to have one of your original connectors laying around do you?

    Jason,

Unfortunately, I have sent them all out with products I built.

Terminal blocks are a definite plus, but I am just looking for the best prices. So far, Newark/Element 14 store has the cheapest plugs.

Are you going to be using the mating connector or just using this as way to get through the panne?

So what would you next choice of terminaiton be that you would want?

    Jason,

    You are quick to respond!

For the next termination option I would go with at least a 6" (inch) lead off the back. I know that exists, I buy them all the time. I just don't know which Tyco part number it is in the Element 14 store.

Tyco as you pointed out earlier has the one with 12" leads. However they come with 3 different wiring options (10 Base-T, 568A & 568B). This has to do with the wiring lay out in the connector. The below link will show these layouts.

    http://www.accesscomms.com.au/reference/lanwiringschemes.htm

Food for thought though: The only one in stock is under Part# 20M8019 (the one you had earlier) this is the 10 Base-T but the others can be ordered.

    568A - 20R9776

    568B - 08P5233

Check out page 26 of the data sheet.
