I have 8 PWM controlled motor driver wires conducting up to 3A each, 3 wires from a rotary speed sensor at 5V 100mA, and 2 wires from Active Low switches at 5V. A total of 13 wires. I would like to have them all in the same cable going from a control box to a machine, no longer than 6 feet.
The 1st concern is interference from the motor drive wires on the other five, mA conducting, wires. Would shielding work or twisted pair work to isolate the drive signals? Or should I keep the two groups separate?
My 2nd concern is the actual cable. I would like a cable that is inexpensive and already assembled. Currently, I use a 8 pin CPC connector for the motors and an cat5 connection for the other wires. But, for the motors, I have to solder every pin on the CPC plugs. I'm tired of doing that over and over, and I'm tired of the solder fumes. So with all 13 wires solution, I would need 2 plug receptacles and a cable with matching plugs on either end. It would be nice if wiring the receptacles was easy, or even if they were pre-wired.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
