Ethernet connector?

Former Member
Former Member over 14 years ago

Hi all,

For the moment i'm working on a board that will have a 100 Base-T Ethernet connection on it. The connection of the cat5e cable will be done once at the factory and not by a customer. I need a connector, as small as possible, for this purpose, the RJ45 is too big. Anyone that have any sugestions?

/Roland

Thanks for your sugestions. I have been looking at the Tyco Industrial Mini I/O but the cable connector is terribly complicated to mount on the cable. Ten different pieces i a single connector!

The second one you sugest is, as far as I know, not available as a single connector only stacked.

    Regards,

    Roland

    Hi Roland,

I have checked with Bel Stewart who are second source on the RJ Point 5. This is a brand new connector and not yet fully released but there is a possibility they will be doing a single port version. However, this single port will have integrated magnetics - if thats a problem - and of course this will add to board space.
I am struggling to find you anything better then the TE mini I/O for a small form factor connector with CAT5e performance.  Actually i remember the sample i had a year ago and although yes there are many components it wasnt too complicated to assemble.  It may be worth your while getting a sample.  Let me know if i can be of any more help

    Hi Andy,

Thanks for your efforts. I have been in contact with Tyco about the connector and I have all the samples I need. The Bel Stewart part sounds interesting and I will keep an eye on it.

    Regards,

    Roland Larsson
