Help with a connector?

Former Member
Former Member over 10 years ago

Hello,

Can you guys help me to find out what the name is of this connector in the photo, there is a CR2032 battery next to it for size reference.

This connector is from a converter to molex.

As you can see the cables came lose/broke and now I have to replace the connector to get it working again.

Thanks in advance!

    Hi Tim,

I don't know the name of the connector but I have repaired this type of problem in the past. I begin by pushing the pins out the back of the connector. There is a little metal finger on the side of the connector that will release the pin. Then I solder the wires back to the pins being careful to keep the solder job small enough to slip back into the connector. The little metal finger on the pin needs to be repositioned so the pin will stay in the holder. Usually I will add some heat shrink to add strain relief.

These directions have been modified after I looked more carefully at the pictures you provided.

    John

    Hi John,

I thought of doing that, but I think it's not reliable and I don't have steady hands to perform it. I will just try to find a replacement cable.

    Thanks for your help anyway!
