4-pin speaker connector.. how best to hook up to a single speaker

Question

I'm working on a retro project where I'm fitting this 7" LCD screen to a cool-looking film editor built in the 1970s, that looks like it's from the TV show Severance 
 I'd like to hook it up to a single 1" speaker. 
 There's a 4-pin speaker connector on the screen's main board;

On the board they're labelled as R1 R2 L1 L2. 
 Am I correct in assuming that I can take a generic 4-pin lead with 1.25mm spacing like this , and simply combine wires R1+L1, and R2+L2, and wire those direct into the mono 1" speaker?

 Nice project! 
 It looks like your LCD board is using the audio chip shown below. I can't tell which specific 4-pin lead will fit, but even if you get it wrong, you could just tack wires to the pins although admittedly that's awkward when they are small. 
 Anyway, if you have just a single mono speaker, then you can wire it to either pins 1 and 2, or pins 3 and 4, but it's not good to parallel them. There's no harm if one pair of wires is left disconnected, and nothing will sound weird if the input is mono, or if there is not much difference in the stereo signals. The other option of course is to wire two speakers, but that depends if you have two, and if you have the space for them. By the way, from AliExpress it is possible to get speaker modules (presumably from old laptops or LCD TVs) that consist of the speaker already in a plastic enclosure, that can provide more bass than a single speaker. If it is possible to remove the old speaker and retrofit a laptop speaker, then it may provide better sound quality than the original : ) Some are sold in pairs with a 4-pin connector, although it's possible the connector will be different. Some of the speakers are compact/slim, so two might fit the space you have.
