450MHz Shark DSP Dev-kits

Hello, does any one are interested in Analog devices Shark development kit ?

Basically it is ADSP-21489 floating point DSP running at 450MHz ( possible to 700MHz overclock) with all pins connected to header (except single UART for debugging and boot pins for spi flash since i am using dual channel FT2232 for debugging/programing)

I made Labview program that can program external SPI flash with FT2232D from Labview by using loader file generated inside Crosscore or VisualDSP++ IDE. This can be very high performance calculation engine for demanding applications. I can do single point DFT with 128 array at 2MHz repetition rate, while ARM Cortex M4 (STM32F407 running 250MHz can only do 50KHz !! )

Here is what Shark DSP can do in native calculation (Mandelbrot fractal in f32 )

At the moment i have single unpopulated board , but can order more if demand is big. With additional cost i can buy all parts, assemble and ship it as full development kit.

Since i don't have jtag for analog products (USB_ICE) and it cost more than i can spend , programming is done by using FTDI FT2232D SPI interface.

Idea is simple: hold DSP in reset, so all pins are in high-z state, enable bus drivers connected to FT2232D SPI output ( same pin as hold DSP in reset), delete flash ( as many pages as needed for ldr file) and when all data is inside flash, disable bus drivers to high-z state and release DSP from reset.

Only problem i am facing right now is that i need to hold reset button while i programming DSP, even when i probe it, FT2232 does hold DSP in reset without any problems. Small problem, i guess i need to add some delay inside programming loop for bus drivers since if i enable them with reset button and when release, flash is programmed correctly

Hi

oh i thought maybe the board was a open source / commercial product... do you still dabble with these processors ? I'm developing a an old 21065 SHARC dsp board for audio stuff, the research really takes alot of time reading the datasheet.

how much would you charge for the board, i actually have the ADI emulator "clone" I bought it here http://www.openadsp.com/product_detail.asp?proid=41

anyway let know would like to meet people using the sharc platform.

This board use FTDI to load ascii file to external flash for booting (generated directly by CrossCore or VisialDSP++), and i did not used any JTAG connectors, only terminated in correct way.
cost would be 120$

I am not as good programmer as you think, having same problems with complicated programing. i only know hot to work with DMA for high speed parallel communication, SPI, UART,SRAM

The binary loader is a good idea, the fact that the you used with a FTDI is just brilliant, however as im using the emulator I think I will have to pass on that offer and continue with my 21065 DSP processor board.

Hope we can chat again more on some SHARC topics!
