Election 2016 - The day after... your thoughts?

Catwell

Four years ago, I wrote a comparison of Obama and Romney - who would be better for the engineering world. The results were pretty clear.

I didn't do that this year, figuring we were done with the stagnation of pre 2008. And in 2012, I thought there was a plan for rapid recovery in the engineering job market. Employment rates are great, improving every day.

We were moving on. The results ended up a lot different than I imagined.

I couldn't do any research on the "plans" of the candidates anyway. So, now it is a wait an tell if we continue the recovery.

What are your thoughts? Are engineers poised for continued growth in the job market, or back to pre-2008 level?

While I'd love to discuss the finer points of the Election outcome, I'm rather busy digging a fallout shelter and stocking up on tinned goods at the moment.

Good point, I guess I am referring to people who establish non-negotiable positions. By definition, everything should be negotiable if you want agreements that benefit both sides. If you adopt an extreme…

I'm a Canadian living in the United States (California). I have been watching this thing unfold for about two years, and I followed along quite closely since NAFTA was part of the debates. I'm currently in the US on a NAFTA visa. I've followed the Wikileaks releases, debates, social media, etc.... I've learned more about US politics than I ever thought I would. Here is my two cents:

The Democratic National Committee (DNC) lost this election. They literally rigged the candidate they wanted instead of the most electable. This isn't news to anyone, and no one denies it. There were resignations because of it. The logic baffles me. If your candidate can't uprightly win the primary, how can you expect them to win the election? There are protests now, people burning Donald Trump dolls and whatnot. Really, they should be protesting the DNC, not Donald Trump. He's the president America deserves for what the "liberal" machine thought they could get away with.

    Again, just my two cents.
