Relay help

mark.yankowiak1@gmail.com
mark.yankowiak1@gmail.com over 8 years ago

Hello,

I am trying to find a way to turn off a circuit with a red light, when another circuit with a green light is closed. When the green light circuit becomes open, the red light should turn back on.

Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated.

-Thanks

Hi Mark, I drew this schematic very quickly and the RL is just a left over. If there were more than one relay they would be numbered RL1, RL2, etc. The SW2 switch can be replaced with a wire and SW1 can…

    Hi Mark,

There are many permutations of what you are describing so it is unlikely that I have drawn the correct schematic but here is a place to start anyway.

    JW,

You forgot the back EMF diode and you are making the assumption that both circuits are running from the same power source.

Why the extra switch for the red light? The question doesn't mention one for it.

Based on what Mark gave us to work with we are both making a few assumptions.image  I put the extra switch since Mark indicated he had an existing Red Light circuit so I drew a circuit and put a a switch in it.

Since when are snubber/flyback diodes only for semiconductor protection?

I always like the "compactCAD" versions as you can see the evolution.

Electronic drawings are fine but these are so much quicker.

    Here it is in reality.

I used LEDs with current limiting resistors as the coloured lights.
