    Hi Jay, It looks to me like the heat has also carbonized your board somewhat. This weakens the board and may cause the pads to come loose when you try to remove the old parts. In circumstances similar…

    Mine have1 brown and 3 red, that one has 1 brown, 3 black and another brown?

    The link should take you to a 2200 ohm resistor. ±1% And 600mW. I think that's RED RED RED BROWN. im just going from memory thow, someone correct me if i am wrong.

    I ordered 250, dose the size deference seem right?  How do I know what watt the old resistors are rated?The old ones read 2.20K and the new ones read 2.18K, I guess that is good but I'm worried about the watt rating.imageimage

    Rightly so.  Resistors have gotten a little smaller per Watt rating over the years, 'cause they can run a little hotter.  But maybe not this much.  If you had less resistors to replace, I'd tell ya to use four new resistors/resistor.  Any integer square number of equal-valued resistors can be used to make a more power-tolerant version.

     

    You can measure the physical dimensions of your resistors and compare them to ones in an old e- catalog.  Just to glance at the situation the resistors you have look like half-watters and your replacement ones look like quarter-watters.  Too big is better than too (contemporaneous w/ your device)  small in most cases.

    if your concerned with the smaller resistors then connect 2 in series with 2 in parallel, this will end up with the same value within the tolerance of the resistors but it will handle much more power

     

    this would require 4 resistors for every one your replacing

     

    alternatively get higher wattage resistors

    If you had to guess, what wattage would you say the old resistors are?

    Hi all,

    The new one are what Lupe Lopez gave me a link to: http://www.newark.com/vishay-bc-components/mrs25000c2201fct00/resistor-thin-film-2-2k-0-6w-1/dp/97K5580, Thanks Lupe....

    They are 600mW and if a 1/2 watt is: 500mW and what I have (the old ones) are a 1/2 watt then I should be good to go. I guess there is no way to know what watt my old ones (in photo on the board) are?

    I think I'm good with these Lupe just wanted to post the size difference and get some feed back, this board was made in the early 80's
