This NFC story is already for a long time in the wild, and still I've seen only 2 use-cases so far:

* standalone tags
* wireless pairing

What about contactless payments? Here in the UK it's huge. In fact there's a looming problem that some shops are considering not accepting cash. (One or two actually have.)

Oh, really? Do you mean that you can pay by NFC in your smartphone, or do you have credit cards with NFC?

Both. Smartwatches too - both Android Wear and Apple Watch can do payments.
