Sensor to detect Human Presence

gunaseelan
gunaseelan over 11 years ago

Hello Friends,

Is there any sensor to detect human presence . Am aware of PIR (Passive Infra Red) sensor , which would human motion but not the human presence . Another way is by using image processing technique. Kindly suggest me a better solution image .

Thanks.

CO2 sensors, at least the living ones breathe. heat radiation, pressure sensors at any chair...

I guess it depends what you mean by human presence - certainly the vast majority of intruder alarms detect 'human presence' via PIR sensors.

A few of these which are easy to drive with arduino or other micro controllers should be able to cover a room http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2050601.m570.l1313.TR7.TRC1.A0.H0.Xultrasonic…

You could use a door sensor combined with a PIR sensor perhaps?

Map the room with sonar and scan for any changes.

Often, they are ultrasonic transducers that exploit the doppler effect.  Stationary objects that reflect the pinger return some of the energy, at the frequency of emission.  If an object is moving toward the detector, fq is up-shifted.  Away, down-shifted.  We notch out the carrier and detect the remainder.

floor sensors can be deployed that measure the movement of a person around a house. PIR can be confused by a large pet as could CO2 detectors I assume. Of course, inject everyone at birth with an RFID tag and away you go. image
