Why do you need a range of 1 meter?
Do you need to read and write?
Is it enough when reading is possible at the long distance?
Where do you live? This is important for the usage of some frequencies.
Do Yyou have any tags you want to use?
For a longer distance usually active tags are used.

If you are looking at 1 meter range then I think you need to use LF Readers (134.2kHz) which can do the job.
Texas Instruments offers several Reader Modules for 134.2 kHz which you may be interested in. Please see RI-STU-251B | LF Readers, Modules and Antennas | NFC / RFID | Description & parametrics . Note, however, the '251B reader uses RS232 and RS485 interface.
The LF control module ( RI-CTL-MB2B | LF Readers, Modules and Antennas | NFC / RFID | Description & parametrics) also include USB interface which can be connected to Arduino.
