New IoT developer device in the making

Former Member
Former Member over 11 years ago

Hi guys!

We've been developing this new IoT developer device with built-in sensors and mobile connectivity that can be used for tracking and monitoring different things. To try and make the thing as good as we can for IoT developers, we're trying to reach out to people with specific knowledge in the field to find out what (if anything) they would want to do with a device like this. Would it be ok to do that here? We could really use all the help and opinions we can possibly get. Cheers!

Hey shabaz, thanks for your comment! You're right, the description was a bit vague. Our idea is that we'll provide the HW so that SW developers (and also non-developers) wouldn't have to worry about it…

Kaisa T You are quite right that it suits a particular application and market. The connectivity and battery life are very good, and its waterproof and can easily be mounted, which are also very good ideas…

    Dear Kaisa,

The idea is good and the device look nice.

Web IDE will be the best option for public user but it will be difficult for advance user with limited function.

My suggestion is to create a GUI for SPI, I²C, ADC and other interface. So that user can modifier according to their need. It difficult but I think lot people will love it.

Basically user don't need to do the programing code. They just set the parameter in GUI and the device is ready to go with plug and play sensor. image

If still the programing code then you will face a lot of competitor. I just give some example ( https://www.spark.io/ ) (https://electricimp.com/) (https://cubesensors.com/).

If you feel you have room to fit in. Go ahead.

    cheer

    Hi ES!

Thanks so much for your comment.  Unfortunately GUI support for the serial interfaces is not in on the roadmap. However, you’ll have an option to make that a priority later on: We'll be setting up a feature request site where everybody can influence our roadmap by voting on submitted feature requests. We'll see where that takes us image
