Capacitor identification

Hello,

 

I would like to ask you for a help with a capacitor identification.

I know that it is an electrolytic capacitor with axial leads, used as a filtering capacitor connected to a bridge rectifier. The whole board is a controller board for a 15-year old Vaillant gas boiler.

 

Both capacitors (marked yellow) should be the same and the visible markings are:

B41283

22/40

10.00

GPF

 

I googled the "B41283" and the first result for me is this datasheet http://www.farnell.com/datasheets/51606.pdf

However, I am not sure about the capacity, voltage and temperature rating. I am probably just missing how to get it from the markings mentioned above.

 

Could you help me identify it and/or recommend a substitute (preferably on EU Farnell site)?

    Hi David, I believe these are 22uF 40V capacitors, so for a boiler if you get ones with a long life at 105 degrees C, they should be fine. These two should be suitable, provided they are not too large…

    Do you have any reason to believe that these are failed on your board?

    Hi David,

     

    I believe these are 22uF 40V capacitors, so for a boiler if you get ones with a long life at 105 degrees C, they should be fine.

    These two should be suitable, provided they are not too large to fit the board:

    MAL211838229E3MAL211838229E3  or MAL213838229E3MAL213838229E3 (the first one being a better choice, longer life).

    Thank you very much. I wasn't sure, but I knew the numbers have a meaning image

     

    I don't have the board with me, but I had the same thoughts about the size, so I asked a colleague to measure it (don't have the answer yet). The rectifier and the capacitor is always next to a relay, driven by 24 V.

     

    I don't have any reason to think that the capacitors failed, however, I am in the process of ordering capacitors for two other devices that have "inflated" capacitors, so I thought I would add two more into the order.

     

    The original reason I got into this board is because the relays are probably malfunctioning, they don't switch when the voltage is applied to them, but they do switch when someone "knocks" on them a little. I hope changing the relays and the two capacitors should make the device life longer. (It has worked for about 15 years and the new board (probably from another device) costs about $400.) Or do you think there might be another reason? I haven't seen the board myself, but the "knock to switch" procedure seems obvious for me.
