Capacitor identification

Question

Hello,

I would like to ask you for a help with a capacitor identification.

I know that it is an electrolytic capacitor with axial leads, used as a filtering capacitor connected to a bridge rectifier. The whole board is a controller board for a 15-year old Vaillant gas boiler.

Both capacitors (marked yellow) should be the same and the visible markings are:

B41283

22/40

10.00

GPF

I googled the "B41283" and the first result for me is this datasheet http://www.farnell.com/datasheets/51606.pdf

However, I am not sure about the capacity, voltage and temperature rating. I am probably just missing how to get it from the markings mentioned above.

Could you help me identify it and/or recommend a substitute (preferably on EU Farnell site)?

Best Guess is 22 uF at 40 Volts John

Hi David, I can see from the size chart in the Data Sheet you provided that the 22 uF at 40 Volt units have dimensions of 6.5mm in diameter by 15.5 mm long. You can verify this on your board. Do you have any reason to believe that these are failed on your board? John

Hi David,

I believe these are 22uF 40V capacitors, so for a boiler if you get ones with a long life at 105 degrees C, they should be fine.

These two should be suitable, provided they are not too large to fit the board:

MAL211838229E3MAL211838229E3 or MAL213838229E3MAL213838229E3 (the first one being a better choice, longer life).
