This was a surprise!
Going away for a bit, and charged up my camera batteries, only to see this; you can see the left battery has a curved surface, it's not flat like the one on the right.
I measured the thickness at 20.4 mm, compared to 18.5 mm for the one on the right.
The one on the left was purchased in July of this year, but never used until today. Today was the first time I charged it, in a genuine Sony charger.
The one on the left is by Ansmann, and was a lot cheaper than the one on the right (Sony).
Ansmann is usually a decent brand, so I was very surprised this occurred. I'm glad I noticed this now and didn't forget to leave it in the charger overnight or longer!
Definitely purchased from Amazon as the seller, from the Ansmann Store there; with supposedly a 5-year warranty, but it didn't last a day:

Anyway, it's a reminder, don't forget to remove batteries from chargers overnight and if possible always be around to check on them just in case.
