DC Lighting in an AC system

I currently have a small house that used to be on the grid but now we've taken it off. There is a lighting system already set up and it's meant for AC bulbs. A solar system is already set up with a 24 V battery bank and I want to run the lights off a DC power supply. Do I have to change the configuration of the lighting set up to make the lighting work for DC or can i just put DC bulbs into the old sockets and attach the system to the 24V DC system.

You can convert to ac 100W 24VDC to 24VAC Modified Sine Inverter and then step up to 120v But to use existing wiring old wiring would need to be replaced and be limited in distance depending on gauge wire used.

You could use the old wiring for DC but the current rating may be a problem - if you can get 24V LED bulbs the increased efficiency should mean that the current rating of the wire should be OK (but you need to check). You also need to make very sure that the now 24V circuit can NEVER be connected to mains.
Almost certainly you would do better to get a 24V -> mains converter - these are readily obtainable and quite cheap.
