I want to run a projector from my 12V circuit.
The projector is 14V and 3.5 Amp -
I don't really want to use an inverter.
Is there a simple way to step up 12V to 14V ?
thanks v. much

If you just want an off-the-shelf solution you may want to try to get a DC-to-DC converter from a company like Vicor. Look at: http://cdn.vicorpower.com/documents/datasheets/ds_vi-j00.pdf
which offers up to 100W supplies in a half brick. However, many times these companies offer many different outputs and inputs, but do not stock non-standard one, but it may be worth a try.
If you want to build your own as one replier suggested, ti.com or linear.com both have chips, circuits and on-line software to design supplies. Try National's (recently bought by Texas Instruments) WEBENCH at http://www.national.com/ and input the data into Webench Designer. With your input and output requirements they have about 7 or 8 different solutions including the LM3481MM/NOPBLM3481MM/NOPB from another replier.

Why don't they make these nice new parts as through hole or better yet monsterous so an old hog like me can bolt them to a 2x4 and solder house wiring to the pins?
