The giveaway is a Vernier Caliper and it arrived at my office today. As soon as I got home I started trying it out.
It is a Mitutoyo 530-122 Vernier Caliper. It is a high accuracy model: ±0.03mm. It has metric scale
Unboxing
It comes inside a cardboard box.
With a plastic cover and instructions for use. Use cases and how to read the measurements with the maximum precision of the tool
Can measure outside and inside diameter (OD and ID), depth, and steps. Range 0 - 150mm
Roadtest
I'm testing it by making a 3D model of the blue boogie bot from element14 although I don't need that much precision for this task. It's really comfortable.
It is not a light caliber, the weight is noticeable and it is appreciated when having it in your hand. It is very well balanced and handles very well with the right hand.
It is very simple, easy to read, I can do the readings well without the need for close-up glasses or a magnifying glass.
The numbers and lines have very good definition, are very easy to read and have a sensational contrast. The ruled surface is glare-free and looks good from any angle.
It has a metric scale which is what I am used to using. It also has a very useful clamping screw for forgetful people like me.
