The MDO3000 Mixed Domain Oscilloscope (MDO) SeriesMDO3000 Mixed Domain Oscilloscope (MDO) Series, a 6-in-1 integrated oscilloscope from Tektronix reducing cost and maximising workspace.

 

The MDO3000 MDO3000 includes an integrated spectrum analyzer, arbitrary function generator, logic analyzer, protocol analyzer, and digital voltmeter/counter. Completely customizable the MDO3000MDO3000 allows the user to add instruments and performance as required. Containing an integrated 4-digit digital voltmeter (DVM) and 5-digit frequency counter, any of the analog inputs can be a source for the voltmeter, using the same probes that are already attached for general oscilloscope usage. The display is both numeric and graphical and shows minimum, maximum, and average values of the measurement as well as the range of values measured over the previous five second interval.

A fast waveform capture rate of greater than 280,000 wfm/s with FastAcq facilitates the identification of infrequent problems common in digital systems: runt pulses, glitches, timing issues, and more.

 

Intensity grading is used to indicate how often rare transients are occurring relative to normal signal characteristics with four waveform palettes available in FastAcq acquisition mode.

The MDO3000 MDO3000 is the first oscilloscope in its class to include an integrated spectrum analyzer with a frequency range of 9 kHz up to the analog bandwidth of the instrument which can be upgraded to 3 GHz (option MDO3SA), enabling spectral analysis on most consumer wireless standards.

Dave Farrell, general manager, Mainstream Oscilloscopes at Tektronix, said: “There’s a fundamental shift with regard to wireless in embedded systems. With RF technologies so established and affordable, they are becoming as accepted and widely used as serial data was a few years ago.  In addition, with digital signals increasing in speed, the effects of electromagnetic interference (EMI) has become a common problem requiring looking at the RF spectrum of even non-wireless systems.  Just as MSOs have replaced analog-only oscilloscopes, it follows that MDOs are the next logical evolution and are becoming the accepted mainstream industry standard.”

    Hi Pat certainly a nice bit of kit obviously other folk on other sites have reviewed other members of this series. What I'd really like to see for this and other equipment tests is a full road test were someone actually uses it to do something not just a list of the key features because these after all are  in the buy me sheet from the vendor. The problem with a bit of equipment  like this is that there is so much going on that many people don't even understand why they would need feature X,Y or Z. I suppose that those in the know have already bought one but it would be great to have a real world reason to drool over a bit of equipmentlike this  image !!
