Multimeter question

I just received this enquiry through the Technology First Journal. Anyone have any Idea?
Can you advise us a multimeter measuring principle, i.c. concrete available instruments, which can measure a diverse successive pulse shaped DC current, provided the pattern is consistently repeating. Repeating frequency is rather low e.g. 2,5 times per second so an adjustable damping of the indication would be nice.
The instrument must indicate the proper averaged value of the current in a range of up to about 250 mA.
What we are actually looking for is an electronic multimeter equivalent of the original moving coil meter who principally integrates a current, also when the current has a complex fluctuating pattern, provided the pattern is repeating.

       Thank you for your question regarding Multimeter,it was not straight forward answer, I need some help from our supplier and they have suggested bench multimeter as shown below.

    "Depending on what result you are  looking for I would suggest different DMMs.
    If you just want to digitize the signal both the  34401A34401A and 34410/11A are more than capable
    If you want the AC RMS value you will need to bump up to the 3458A since this is such a low frequency signal The  34401A34401A and 34410/11A are only specified down to 3Hz
    Farnell order code for Agilent  34401A34401A is o/c 1335866,Agilent  34410A34410A is o/c 144-0376 and Agilent 34411A.34411A. our o/c 144-0377.
