Need soldering recommendations

Question

I have a Dell R710 server motherboard where a electrolytic cap got knocked off of it. The legs are still there though. I ordered a couple of replacements and tried to unsolder the legs in the board, but can't seem to get enough heat to them to flow the solder. There aren't any pads on the top or bottom of the board around the legs so I'm assuming that the copper traces are buried in a layer in-between. I've never dealt with this before. My current solder station will do up to 600f, but I think a different approach is called for? Possibly a different piece of equipment?

On my PS4, I had such trouble with the HDMI port. I used my Porter Cable heat gun on max with a tip that tapered the air flow down to about 1/2". Desoldering Tip When Nothing is Working For You | element14 | Maker, Hacker, Inventor and Hobbyist See ya', Sean

A couple of suggestions:

a) don't de-solder them, since the original wire legs are still there, you could solder the new capacitor to those legs.

or

b) use plenty of solder on the tip of your soldering iron, and use that to de-solder, the heat capacity of the new solder helps melt the motherboard solder, and you may be able to remove the legs.
