I understand everyone has their priorities at work, but if a member has a need for advice on what T&M equipment to get, that waiting 2-3 weeks for an answer seems excessive. For example, if I have a contract to design a custom DC-DC Converter and ask advice on the make and model of T&M equipment I might need, it wouldn't go over real well with my customer to tell them, sorry, there's a 2-3 week delay in the project to wait for an answer on what equipment model I should buy.

To be clear, I'm not complaining. This is merely a friendly suggestion and I hope it's not taken the wrong way.

It would be nice to see a bit more explanation as to how the idea of "Community Tech Experts" is meant to work. Neither of these two CTEs have been active on E14 so we know very little about them. Do they work for the Avnet group or a TE supplier. Will they advise about only equipment solde by Farnell or Newark, etc.

I also support KKazem's point  about timing, we've all been spoilt by social media and expect a response to publicly posted queries in 2-3 hours rather than weeks Slight smile

BTW - the emoticon insertion in the new E14 editor is horribly slow.

Hi, We understand your concern. And thank you for your suggestion. 2-3 weeks is just approximate time but we will not take that much time to reply. We will reply to you as soon as possible.

Hi michaelkellett, Chee Tat and Prasanth, are both Farnell's technical experts. They will answer any test & tools related question to the best of their ability, and not  limited to brands sold by Farnell or Newark.

There seems to be some misunderstanding.  Questions will be answered in 24 -48 hours.  The 2-3 week time frame is how long each expert from our tech support team will be available on the site and then another tech support person will be available.  Hope that helps.

HI.  Agree 2-3 weeks would not meet anyone's expectations.  These are folks from our Farnell \Newark\element14 global tech support team that are normally available on the phone.  With  the growth of element14 community, we want to also have them available to answer questions here and see how they can help our members.  Due to global timing of where everyone sits is why it could take 24-48 hours.   Hope that helps.
