Top 6 Tools

All makers are into tools but which tools are their go-to tools. I tried to analyze which half dozen tools I use most often and came up with a slightly surprising list. Obviously it varies from project to project, but some tools get used consistently more than others. I think it will be interesting to discover what others use.

Which half dozen tools do you use the most?

Here are the ones I came up as my top 6 most used tools - they hint at how much time I spend on 3D printing:

Some notables didn't quite make the list - soldering iron, stereo microscope and power supply (mostly because I don't always use the same supply).

    6. Sharpie (black and white)

    You might argue that 5 and 6 are not "tools." But, I use blue tape for all kinds of activities. And being able to mark things is very important.

    One of my storage boxes is dedicated to blue tape roles and boxes of sharpies.

    5&6 are perfect.

    I have a dedicated box for fasteners which are tools - blue tape, duct tape, electrical tape, hot glue gun, velcro, super glue, and tyraps

    Duct tape and hot glue definitely need to be stocked.

    There are a lot of essentials that didn't make the final cut - I don't think solder sucker and safety glasses were mentioned yet

    Not heard of blue tape before : ) but guessing it's similar to washi tape? I use it for marking up panels before drilling, and also labelling components... Pencil, and Edding 140 S pens write on it (and everything else! - they are permanently permanent.. don't know if they are available worldwide).

    I find double-sided tape becomes an additional hand in a pinch.

    washi tape is used for scrapbooks and hobbies, whereas blue masking tape normally is used by painters to keep off parts that you don't want to get painted.

    I personally hate scrapping the paint off glass.
