Most Tenma products are manufactured by another company. If I have a problem, I run a google search to see if I can find the actual manufacturer for help. In your case, try UNI-T (Unitech), product series…

We have the software here: Tenma 72-7732 Windows 7 Software but I'm not certain that contains the firmware that you're after.

duquep Troubleshooting Mantra #1: Never Overlook the Easy.  Troubleshooting Mantra #2: If you have not checked it, it has not been checked.  It is not enough to say you checked it.  You must physically check it - again.  No shortcuts.

The steps below are right out of your scope manual.  Sometimes just doing the simple stuff heals our equipment.

When the power button is pressed and the oscilloscope is black screen:
    • Check the power supply connection
    • Make sure the power switch at the back of the oscilloscope is open, press the front panel power key and confirm green light is present
    • If there is a sound, it indicates that the oscilloscope is activated. Try the following operation:
    • Press DEFAULT key then F1 and if the device returns to normal the back-light brightness is set too low. Restart the oscilloscope.
After signal acquisition, waveform does not appear on display:
    • Check if the probe is connected to the signal test point.
    • Check if the signal line is connected to the analogue channel input.
    • Check the input signal of the analogue channel and that channel is open.
    • Make sure the probe is connected to the compensation piece and check whether the probe is normal.
    • Check to see if there is a signal to be detected.
    • Press AUTO button for signal re-acquisition.
And just for closure... Troubleshooting Mantra #3: Have a process and follow it.
    Good luck.

    Hi,

    Thanks for your reply :-)

I have no sound at startup.

When i said that there is a black screen, it means that the display is ok, but i don't see ani curve on the display.

The run/stop button almways stay in green mode. Not red mode :-(

If you can the procedure to make a Hard Reset, i will be happy.

    Tanks for your help

    Philippe

This might need some photos if not a quick video just to see if anything can be spotted just to eliminate operator error. Could you record with your mobile phone, a photo of the display of the device? A video would help (showing how you're setting to default, and how you're applying a test signal using the built-in probe compensation test point).

Two potential choices.  From OFF, push and hold the Utility button.  Turn the unit on.  See if anything different happens.  Follow the menus, if available.

Option 2:  From OFF, push and hold the Default button.  Turn the unit on.  See if anything different happens.  Follow the menus or prompt, if displayed.

Give the oscilloscope 15 to 20 seconds at least to boot up.  My portable Multicomp Pro scopes feel like they take 30 seconds to boot - although I know it's a much shorter time than that.  One of these two procedures may get you to the hard reset you seek.

    Good luck.
