Cool Tools To Giveaway for a Blog Review

rscasny
rscasny over 7 years ago

I kind of figured that anyone who considers him or herself a maker has a toolbox or a bench of tools they treasure. When I did technical work, I had my big tool box and a briefcase of my go-to tools, including a multimeter, driver set, sockets, extender magnet, etc. These were my cool tools. What are yours?

We are launching a cool tools campaign at element14 where we roadtest and giveaway some tools we think are pretty cool.

Cool Tools Giveaway for a Blog Review

Would you like to get any of these tools, play around with them, and write a blog review? I'm looking for a few members who are really into tools to do the reviews. Below are the tools I have to offer. If you are interested, drop me a line in the comments below. Tell me about your cool tools and persuade me to send you off any of these tools. And all you need to do for it is write a blog review on element14.

I started with 'making'(tearing down) stuff at a tender age and have gone through a lot of stuff. Unfortunately, I lost a big chunk of my tools in a burglary years ago and am left with only a large hammer…

My favorite tools are the ones that I have performed modifications on. When you twist a tool to your own purposes you make a special bond with it. Here are three of the tools which I have modified to do…

That Whia set looks very comprehensive. Might look into one of those.

    Kind regards

Interesting.. that is a nice set! I just noticed it is 'System 4' i.e. Wiha's smaller interchangeable bit system.

There are also longer screwdriver blades available in that range - I have those, but I didn't know there was a driver set in the range too.

This is the Wiha System 4 example screwdriver setWiha System 4 example screwdriver set - I didn't get that particular set, but I got the blades individually including some torx ones.

It was so good I also ended up using System 6, for larger size screws - example Wiha System 6 setexample Wiha System 6 set. (again I just purchased the individual blades,

not that set). That is one of my all-time favourite screwdriver sets, you can adjust the length into/out of the shaft too, and the securing action is great,

no need to tighten anything, it is a push-to-release method that holds the shaft into the handle on the System 6 handle, and on some of the System 4 handles.

Those sets look really nice... wish they were less expensive... all my bigger screwdrivers are of poorer quality... but luckily enough they are harder to break/bend just because of size...

It is, and the price is right (its a good bang for the buck compared to other wiha sets if you need small bits)

Agree, the sets are pricey : ( I think it is better value to buy the handle and the individual blades as needed to be honest. Each blade is really two screwdrivers for the price, since it is reversible. So a set of 6 is really a set of 12 (or a set of 24 if you include stubby/long length as variations by pushing the blade different depths into the shaft)

I once found a different manufacturer single screwdriver that supported half a dozen screw sizes/types in one bit, i.e. different Pozi and Philips sizes all-in-on bit. It was interesting - kind of worked, but it wasn't perfect. But great for non-tech people who may otherwise accidentally use a Philips in a Pozidrive and vice-versa, etc.

    Luis,

You missed one of the most useful items, the cutting surface the tools are on.  8^)  Gordon

    Scmclain,

I'm sorry for the confusion.  What I meant to say was I would like to see an inexpensive automatic wire cutter & stripper.  One that I could say I wanted 10 pieces of 10 inch stripped wire and it would measure, cut and strip each wire automatically.

    Regards, Gordon

    snidhi,

You check around for a equipment surplus store.  Used microscopes are a lot cheaper.  I see them all the time in the USA.

    Regards, Gordon

    Hello Gordon,

Nice catch, that cutting surface is seen in most of my pictures and videos but, actually I left it out on purpose image, the list was already long.

    Luis
