radar mechanism to monitor diy radar reflectors made on aluminum foils or tape or cd, any alternative to radar?

silentknight14th

We have a study on implementing a ship's radar design and mechanism in the forest where on a bunch of trees there's a radar reflector and that radar reflector can be seen in the radar but a radar will cost much so we're trying to find a cheap way

can a software design radio be used? or not?

thank you.

Hi Raymond, Any reason you've raised four near-identical posts? Three with silly titles..

Radar does not need to be expensive. It looks like you can buy a radar module for less than $1 on the Internet.

What are you trying to detect, how far away is it and fast does it move?

yeah it's because I have been researching within a month and I need an opinion on my idea or a suggestion to make my idea better that's why I have been posting with different things but have the same content on my study.

But do you have another suggestion eyy???

Douglas Wong, it will not move.

the radar reflectors will not move because they will be attached on the top of the trees.

ahm maybe for now 50 meters or 25? it will be a prototype then we'll proceed if we'll win on the competition on much farther distance.

Radar reflector is the thing I want to detect, ahm a DIY radar reflector that they use on small ships or kayak, an aluminum foil or cd?

what will the Radar Module do?

    thank you.

Yes, I have a suggestion, If you keep it to a single thread, people won't waste time repeating what someone else may have already discussed in one of your other threads. Basically, if you try to show some consideration, then people will provide better help because they can examine what was discussed with you, and provide a better answer where that is feasible.

Also, if you give it a better title, people won't waste their time clicking to open to see what it's about, if it is not relevant to them.

I'll also suggest this link: How to Ask Questions using the Create Discussion tool

The problem/project details are not clear from your description.

You want to implement a radar on land. Currently you are using a ships radar on land in a forested area. The radar is detecting a reflector suspended in the trees. This radar solution being tested exceeds your budget. You are looking for an alternate solution?

What would help is not a description of what you are doing but what you hope to accomplish.

    Sean

None of the four discussions help much sadly. The vague description across all four discussions raised by Raymond vary a lot, and ships are discussed in several. That, and based on the fact that the OP is clued up enough to mention a particular technology (SDR), all I'm certain of is that this is not a school project.

    I very much agree.

In general I don't even look at posts with titles like "asap" or similar. Having multiple posts makes it even less likely for me to try to help - it thins out the conversation to where the results get confusing and meaningless.

The reason your early and mid July posts didn't get the results you needed (I'm assuming, as you have re-posted a few times since then) are likely because of the poor title.

I'm here because I noticed Shabaz's reply, and coincidentally it turns out your question re radar reflectors is very interesting to me - if the title of your first post had been something like "Need help testing radar reflectors", I probably would have looked at it back then. We have a few boats and kayaks here, and radar reflectors are rather expensive for what they are, so a DIY radar reflector would be great. I'm going to look at Douglas' suggestion now image

What would be even cooler is if you could add a detectable radar reflector to the top of a life vest.

ps, if you do feel the need to re-post to get more traction, it would be a good idea to link back to the previous post (and edit it to link to the new post), and also show what you have found and researched yourself in the meantime.

    Cheers,

    -Nico

I am curious to know why radar is being used to detect stationary targets....unless perhaps the detector is mobile?

    >I'm certain of is that this is not a school project.

I'm ok with people asking for help with "non-disclosure" type projects that maybe they wish to turn into a marketable project, but when asking for help they should at least provide the information required so that the question makes sense. Most "secret" projects can be explained in a way that doesn't reveal the patentable information.
