radar mechanism to monitor diy radar reflectors made on aluminum foils or tape or cd, any alternative to radar?

silentknight14th

We have a study on implementing a ship's radar design and mechanism in the forest where on a bunch of trees there's a radar reflector and that radar reflector can be seen in the radar but a radar will cost much so we're trying to find a cheap way

can a software design radio be used? or not?

thank you.

Hi Raymond, Any reason you've raised four near-identical posts? Three with silly titles..

Yes, I have a suggestion, If you keep it to a single thread, people won't waste time repeating what someone else may have already discussed in one of your other threads. Basically, if you try to show some…

    > if you give it a better title, people won't waste their time clicking to open to see what it's about I very much agree. In general I don't even look at posts with titles like "asap" or similar. Having…

LOL, well it's not entirely clairvoyance or guessing - the OP provided this information in a reply comment at the very top of this thread (and yes, he should edit this post to indicate those details).

you have guessed what I was going to do...

I myself cannot comprehend much on english thats why there's incomplete clues on what I was trying to say.

but also thank you for your suggestions and I'll keep those in mind.

The thing is, this is for a contest which is also a school project because we are required to do this kind of thing and yeah, I was trying to find an alternative way to monitor a diy radar reflector or just radar monitoring radar reflectors mounted on trees.

radar reflectors will be mounted to trees because it will act as a landmark that can be seen on an alternative radar which I still cannot find a suitable one.

those radar reflectors acting as a landmark on every trees will then identify that those are trees.

mounting radar reflectors on the top of the trees will I think help the possible radar (do you have a suggestion on an alternative?) to monitor much clear the radar reflectors.

since it will be on the forest the alternative radar mechanism of some type will monitor the radar reflector and disappearance on one of the radar reflectors will be then play as a warning on that tree that there is something happening.

it will be like an anti-illegal logging radar mechanism.

    thats my study.

i hope you can suggest more...

    thank you.

It's interesting to me too : ) Not that I do boating, but just from technical curiosity.

The scenario that it's a competition and 25-50 meters would help them win sounds strange to me though. I hate being overly suspicious, but I can't believe anyone would bring up the idea of SDR for this unless they'd done some reading up. That. and also the fact that all the non-SDR and cheaper and easier suggestions have been ignored by Raymond (there have been several ideas overall, here and in the other discussions, that used different technologies).

    Hi Raymond,

Thank you for the extra information.

Is your project to build the radar?  (and the reflectors are to test it)

or is it to build the radar reflectors? (and the radar is to test them)

Or is the project to find a way to monitor trees in a forest?

ps, Thanks for updating the title and question.

Given the amount of time and discussion to find the *question* here, imagine how much help we could have already provided to find the answer by now image
