Hi Simon, I agree the price would not be expensive for a company actively engaged in building energy harvesting devices, but most of us here are just curious engineers and tinkerers. You might want to…

Simon There are two with the same name. This one is the one you want (despite it showing as Australian) http://www.markit.com.au/ They were doing EL back in the early to mid 90's, and their website is…

Simon You've convinced me, and I've ordered some parts that would suit this technology. Another project to add to the list for a rainy day ... at this rate Noah better have another Ark built. Mark

    Thanks for your feedback, guys.

I definitely get your point here. The mere price of 330€ sounds expensive first.

Considering that the kit is a professional developement tool, the price is relatively low. Also please know that such kits are not made for profit, but to support the technology and help people design there applications.

On top you´re backed by Texas Instruments´ and Würth Elektronik´s support and can rely on their knowledge and expertise during your design process.

With the evaluation kit you can

    • professionally develop your wireless power application
    • very easy connect your device to the receiver for first test and feasibility checks
    • program/set parameters in regards of your device/application
    • debug your solution

@mcb1: Don´t know why the price for New Zealand is that high. I assume this has something to do with general country regulations in regards to taxes and imported goods.

Operating on a professional level needs professional tools and the kit provides everything you need to get started for, let´s say "a professional price"! ;D

    Regards

    Simon

    Hi Simon,

I agree the price would not be expensive for a company actively engaged in building energy harvesting devices, but most of us here are just curious engineers and tinkerers.

You might want to consider that us talented amateurs might come up with more interesting solutions that the professionals.  We are more passion driven. image

    Just a thought,

    DAB

    My thoughts exactly.

    Simon

Thanks for the response. Part of the cost is the exchange rate 319 euro is NZ$523 and the GST doesn't come on until afterwards.

Most items aren't subject to duty, and the goods haven't left the UK, so it still doesn't add up.

TI show the TX as USD$199 but can't find the Rx.

I haven't tripped over any need to use wireless charging, (and I haven't gone out looking for one) so I haven't joined the road test either, but I do know they use it to illuminate the 'cats eyes' down the centreline of the Lyttelton Road Tunnel, and I think someone dabbled with illuminated advertising on the beer taps.

    Thanks

    Mark
