Those old computers had a lot of parts that do not age well, but you gave it a good try.

Well, if they didn't before - they 100% do now!

My hope was, with the behaviour I saw on the original tear down and attempted power up, was that the power supply was failing. I figured that the power supply couldn't provied the needed power as it was. If the motherboard was pulling too much from a failed cap, I thought it would have shorted and blown the fuse in the PSU?

I kind of cringed a little when you took the power supply out for recapping and closed the machine back up. I was thinking that you would want to recap everything at once, just to save time in the ordering and installing process. Turns out that the motherboard and video card need to be recapped, too.
