So I am All set to start work on my project "My Smart Home" from very first day..
Here is Summary Of my work for week1 of Forget Me Not Design Chellenge..
- Downloaded OpenHAB runtime, OpenHAB addons, Open HAB Designer for windows, Open HAB Designer for linux and OpenHAB Demo from openHAB - empowering the smart home
- Setup OpenHAB server on my Windows7 laptop. It is very easy to setup and getting run out of the box with OpenHAB demo..Easy to make some modifications too...
- Then I moved to my RaspberryPI-A to setup OpenHAB server ...but No success.. I have setup my SD Card again with latest Raspbian Wheezy 2014-06-20 which comes with java.. it boot ups but no screen even with TV or SSH from my Laptop. Tried many time but no success..
- I have received RaspberryPi-B+ as a prize from element14 in Extra raspberry sauce: The great Raspberry Pi B+ giveaway thanks to stujo7.Now I have started again to setup OpenHAB Server on my RaspberryPi-B+ suddenly I realize that I can't able to configure static-IP bcoz RCA cable to connection with TV is now required all different with 4-pole 3.5mm jack.
- I have Installed DHCP Server for windows on my Laptop to assign Static-IP and start working with RaspberryPi-B+ from http://www.dhcpserver.de/dhcpsrv.htm
- Finally I am able to assign Static-IP to my RaspberryPi-B+ and started setting up OpenHAB server on RaspberryPi-B+. Thanks to fvan for his blog post ForgetMeNot - Week 1: EnOceanPi and Sensors
- But I am end up with error saying...ERROR o.o.m.c.i.f.FolderObserver[:105] - An unexpected exception has occurred
- After struggling for whole day and night I have accidentally enabled camera module from raspi-config and after reboot OpenHAB starts working perfectly .
- My next goal is to access OpenHAB server from my Android cell phone. I have searched for OpenHAB app in googly play but ended up with google play saying "your device not supporting OpenHAB App".
- Placed online order for new cell phone by checking on my friends phones about compatibility of OpenHAB android App.
- Mean while my very next goal is to run shell scripts on OpenHAB server from OpenHAB application and I am working on the same.
- Yesterday I have received element14 shipment at my home but I am out of town so very excited to see what inside and start working with enocean sensors if I have received.
Major progress of week-1 :
- OpenHAB server setup on Raspberry Pi B+
- Hands on with OpenHAB Designer with help from https://github.com/openhab/openhab/wiki this link.
- Received element14 shipment but not opened yet,
- Placed Order of Pi Camera Module, USB Wi-Fi Adapter and some other stuff from element14 from budget of $500
- Placed order of Soil moisture sensor and MQ2 and MQ5 gas sensors and new android cell phone.
I will be shortly make one blog post where all my blog post links and summary mentioned just like fvan did..
And I don't think, any thing special I have done in first week, all I am able to do in this week is only possible with support of all member of Forget Me Not Design Challenge group.. so thanks to all..
The first week is all about lots of learning for me with mixing struggle and fun both..and feeling very excited to move ahead...
