Upcycled Clock -3D Printing LED diffusers for the panels

As part of the previous blog post -Upcycled Clock -3D Printing panels , the panels for the clock were printed in wood filament and stained , it was then time to design and  3D Printing LED diffuser's to go with the panels as you see in the picture below. After getting the right nozzle clog sorted out, I designed the LED diffuser's using fusion 360 and dual 3D printed the parts, with the bottom layer printed with 1.75mm transparent PLA and the top layer with regular colored Hatchbox PLA filament.

The M is the picture above will act as a diffuser to signify if I have an unread email in my gmail inbox image ,and Home diffuser will light up red if  the temperature/gas sensor values are too high.

For combining the two STL files that is bottom which is for the transparent filament and the top, I am using combine STL  feature in Slic3r to dual print. And here are some slicer setting I am using with the Flashforge creator pro

Nozzel temperature – 210 C

Bed temperature – 55 C

Extrusion speed 50 mm/s

First Layer height – 0.3mm

Layer height – 0.2 mm

Infill – 20%

Here are the other LED diffuser's parts

Here is how the clock should look after I have the panels installed. Hmm by the looks of it, I think I can still add another panel between i and ii .

Now, since I am headed to Bay Area MakerFaire tomorrow, I thought, I will use the similar concept to 3D print myself a custom batch image ..

    Nice update.

I have found the diffuser screens in old LCD displays make a great light diffuser and you could probably 3D print directly onto it.
