I am sorry to see the Ben Heck show end - it is what led me to the Element14 community. In addition, I was lucky enough to meet Ben and Karen at the Maker Faire in San Francisco last year. It was my one…

This was really nice seeing a softer side of Ben! You definitely will be missed but Karen and Felix are off to a good start and will find their own way of doing things to please the viewers (most of them…

Can't say I'm surprised, as I feel this was bound to happen some day. The attempt to change the show's name was thought to be a step in that direction by many. Best of luck to Ben and the rest of the team…

    Are you

    Farnell element14

The company might sound American but its not its a UK based company, its headquarters is in Leeds York,UK.

The company, which was established as the European arm of Premier Farnell, introduced the element14 brand name in 2010, replacing the legacy brands of Premier Electronics, Farnell and Farnell-Newark with Farnell element14 and Newark element14. The name was taken from silicon, the 14th element in the Periodic Table, which is widely used in electronic components such as integrated circuits and discrete semiconductors.[5][6]

Good Luck Ben,I know its a bit late but what the hell,I hope Element14 does better than Mapin did,Luck they don't have shops to worry about.

2 things us Brits are good at Element14 and the Raspberry Pi... image Most of the 8bit computers in the 80s were made by us too.(BBC Micro,ZX Spectrum,Amstrad CPC464/128,Dragon32,Acorn Electron.) The Arm CPU was built in the UK, part of the Acorn Archimedes.

So, I guess Ben has a new gig?  A few days ago, Dave Jones from the EEVblog announced that Ben Heck is moving himself and his family to Australia to take part in the Dumpster Hacking segment of Dave's EEVblog YouTube channel. Way to go Ben!

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5WlRm-ghuoA

Oh, sorry!  it was an April Fools Joke.   I do like the idea of a Ben and Dave Hack on the EEV Blog as well as being a guest on The Amp Hour.

What the Heck Ben! First Jamie, Adam and the original Mythbusters gang and now Ben.  I guess all good things have to come to an end.  Sorry to see it end though.

benheck, thanks for sharing all of your great projects and videos and showing us that a regular guy can be an awesome Maker as well.  Like Emmett, you are The Special.  You have certainly inspired me to bust out the old soldering iron and get down and dirty with a Proto Board and some Chips and DIPs.

I look forward to seeing what you have in store for the future.

A Dual Ben Heck and Adam Savage One Day Build on Tested would be really cool.

    Keep Building Bud,

    Jon

The Ben Heck Show is the what led me to this community. The fact that he started as a graphic designer, and ended up the host of an electronics engineering show has boosted my confidence that I can build things like this too, even without starting when I was younger. Change is hard, and I will miss seeing Ben every week, and I hope he comes back to doing project videos in some way, either on Youtube or another platform. It will be interesting to see what comes next on the show, and who will be hosting it.

We could have suggested Hen Beak show. Too late now.

    Good luck to all!

shabaz recently did a blog on experimenting with a small e-paper display which may be of interest as a starting point. You can read it here:

Experimenting with E-Paper Displays: Building a Clock!

The screen updates tend to be quite slow however so I suspect gaming applications may be limited.

Ben I've watched/listened to your podcast since 2009 and I wish you the best going forward. I hope you continue to use your engineering knowledge in whatever field you choose.

I've never suggested a build before but I've been curious about what can be done with e-ink screens (I'm sitting here looking at a taken apart kobo) Do you think a console or game boy would work on one? Could be fun...

Thanks for the knowledge and entertainment, i'll continue listening to the podcast.

Hi benheck sorry to hear you're moving on, but I hope you continue to do lots of interesting stuff like the film that you mentioned!!

It has always been clear (and evident by all the comments here over the years), you have made an incredible contribution to people's interest in engineering.

I hope you always keep in touch with everyone here : )
