Finally, the BeagleBoneRegistered AI has been released and Clem is very excited to take it for a spin!  He goes beyond his comfort zone and explore PRU (programmable real-time units), OPENCV (Image recognition) and much more on his journey to build an animatronic Terminator inspired skull. It even cites badly impersonated Arnold Schwarzenegger quotes when it detects a human face. This might not be the beginning of Skynet, but it may lead you to build your own AI powered projects!

I've been noticing a few Terminator projects recently, it is almost as if there's a new film out

tariq.ahmad , cstanton , Wow, this seems to be a good opportunity to get our hands on the BB AI and the MayerMakes' Add-On Cape. Also, this terminator skull by mayermakes is really a motivation to think…

Yes I followed the blocks and raised that issue on github. there is some work to be done to get back full BBIO compability, the Pinout is different for the BB Ai processor and the BBB so we either need…

woohoo! thanks! I've been doing more reading on the AI parts lately, so I might use it for something overly complicated there. Was thinking about the ability to hold a crossword puzzle up to a camera (including the clues) and have it fill in what you haven't already. Or face recognition related, but i'm still not quite sure exactly what to go with there.

I've often wondered, what does marking a document as official mean?

Thanks cstanton, I too love it, here's a review I did of the pico projector running a episode of "The IT Crowd" (I had to reduce the size of the video to 320p to run it this smooth image)

Hi, I am sorry for late reply, I was in a NO NW Zone for quite some time.

I am a huge fan of Beagle bone and BeagleBoards, and have worked with them since 2012 with the Original Beagle Board XM and the Original Beagle bone and since always prefer these remarkable kits and the goodness of the open source platform they provide. The latest in the line was PocketBeagle which I am still working on.

    1.     What project do you have planned with the BeagleBoneRegistered AI

I originally had an IDEA of recreating and enchanting the concept of live argument reality using a BeagleBone Projector, camera and some Vision processing using open CV. it would be the most challenging thing,  I want to achieve since a long time. the idea would include :-

         -     A portale platform that can be carried.

         -     A Camera that can connect to the Bone using a USB Cable

         -     Mini projector Cape connected to Beagle Bone Black with the Connectivity Cape

         -     Open CV Running to detect the devices in the images

         -     Ability to show the Home sensor statistics on the go / Show Sensor Data pertaining to the sensor on the wall.

         -     Ability to connect to the Mobile phone and show images / Videos / Presentations on the Go.

    BLOCK DIAG as below.

    image

I had tried the project using the BeagleBone Rev C but did NOT gain any much success as the board was not able to run even a 720p media file smoothly. and further the one USB port was occupied with the Wifirouter which meant to add a Powered USB Hub for provision of Webcam which intern made me drop the project and focus on designing adhoc RPi shield to interface the BBB Pico Projector.

Well that also did not materialised as excepted as there was huge interference and I was only able to get a blurry image out from projector with gone case VSync.

After going through the details of the Beagle Bone AI, I thought to relive the project and try to complete this project. image

    2.     What familiarity you have with programming and linux.

I have loads of experience programming in embedded linux which I learnt as part of this community as well as my tenure as Research Associate in IISC, Bangalore further in 2011 I have also worked with Beagle Board XM and implemented a simple object detection algo on the embedded platform.

Some of my past work is as given below:-

I have been working on getting a front end work for the device and Using a Raspberry Pi 2 and a Cheep Multi Chinese display I was able to get few things working please refer to the following IMAGES.

    imageimageimage imageimageimageimageimage

Well, Did not successfully complete it, but as per the block diag above, will be using the BB Pico projector, and a webcam as the I/O. Inbuilt WiFi to host a web server with the live stream augmented using Ope CV. Also I will be using a Li-Ion based battery solution for powering the setup at the same time keeping it low profile to fit as a  HUGE wearable.

Finally, I have also compleated numerous RoadTests and Challenges as part of this community and have a good experience in SBC and Embedded Systems. you can go through my past projects on gsgill112.github.io. Further I also have a youtube channel where I keep on posting embedded kit reviews and some fun projects I do, please do check me out there.

PS. Pl check out my review of the BBB Bundle roadtest HERE.

Once again sorry for the late reply, I hope you will consider.

    Regards,

    GS Gill

It's in the T&C image sometimes it also depends on whether or not the winner replies to our messages to confirm . . . which happens less than I'd like!
