Eagle libraries

I would like to learn more about how to find specific components and in which libraries to find them.  I know you can create your own components and Libraries, but for now I only use common components, which most likely are already created and stored in a library somewhere.

 

The problem is that it takes time to browse through libraries trying to find where the component is that I am looking for.

  • What if you're not sure of the name, and after trying many different combinations in the search box still can't find what your looking for?  A classic example that I'm currently looking for is the schematic shape for a single GPIO output pin as used in the diagram below:

    Sorry, I'm a relative newcomer to eagle so still learning the ropes.

    The parts are organised under folder names. Unless it's really a component (in which case you may find it in the 'con-...' libraries (for connector), then it may not exist. If desired, you could create it as a part, and perhaps place it in a personal library or in the 'docu-dummy' library since it is a documentation type symbol.

    Or you could give the wire a name (e.g. GPIO) and then put a label beside it (there are Name and Label icons in the EAGLE toolbar).
