Why Haven't You Signed Up for an element14 Webinar Lately?

I'm a bit perplexed: with a community of nearly a half million members, I am not seeing many members sign up. We offer webinars to the community because they offer useful information for the working engineer. They are offered by experts in their fields. From my point of view, they are a good deal (free) and worth anyone's time. So, here's my question: why haven't you signed up for a webinar lately?

I subscribe to each one that is in my interest sphere or that I think will learn me something new. The less a session is related to a particular supplier or product, the more I like it. That's typically…

I sign up for those webinars that I find interesting. Some I view after they are posted. Most of the webinars are very informative, so I enjoy them. DAB

I'm just saying we should stop calling this a 500k member community, because it simply isn't. To answer the question: In my case, the times rarely fit, either due to day job or family time afterwards.…

speed reading works, speed video watching doesn't.

Funnily enough, they seem to think that videos can replace proper classroom courses on new equipment that we need ti understand to maintain.

We keep telling them that it doesn't work for the same reasons as above.

Webinars and Videos don't usually interest me - the rate of information transfer is typically about 10% or less than that I get from reading an article , app note or data sheet. The few webinars that I have sat through on deeply technical subjects have proceeded at a snail's pace. If I was really interested i would look at the video later and try and skip things to speed it up - this is often difficult -  speed reading works, speed video watching doesn't.

I do often look up the subject of upcoming webinars on the web in search of readable material.

When a webinar is about an upcoming road test or design contest, I usually try and attend.  I'd like to see more of those.   Last couple had bad audio for me, so not very useful.

None of the topics usually interest me, but I've never been a fan of webinars. However, webinars on Fiber Optics would interest me.

We tried a few time to find a slot, but efforts faded out as it became apparent our schedules didn't match well at all. Ben and co are pretty much limited to a work week hours, which is when I am not available. My next vacation is September and even that is problematic as I will be in the boonies.

Some time ago, I was always consider the Oz down under that was the only one. Daylight Savings ruin it for me. On non daylight saving times it is a juggle with home work and Maths Maths and more Maths. At 50+ it is difficult to handle Maths so it take a lot of my time.

Hopefully I will complete my studies this year and only have a final year project left to do. I hope to have more time available next year to start getting back into road tests and webinars.

It's usually a timing issue for me.

I've watched a few of the recorded ones, so i guess I'll show in that statistic.

I have to ageee with the presentation comment.

I watched one where questions were asked but the viewer couldn't hear the question so unless the guest repeated it, you were left wondering.

I think a lesson going forward is to identify what has worked and why it worked, then try to provide guideline and training to ensure they all meet that standard.

For example, I was supposed to have a chat with Ben Heckendorn, but we could never find an available timeslot.

I was wondering what happened to that. So not happening anymore?

I like webinars - there is always something to learn, but it is almost impossible for me to attend. I have a job that takes all the working hours away. I play sports 4 times a week which takes another 12 hours away, and these are all immovable schedules. On sports days I am booked from when I get up to the time I get back to bed 18 hours later. The other 3 days are almost always filled with other commitments. This also impacts teleconferences and other real-time interaction activities. For example, I was supposed to have a chat with Ben Heckendorn, but we could never find an available timeslot.

slow speakers are a blessing for non-natives like me.
