Do you have a particular brand of PLA that has performed well?

I had tried a PLA Plus product on Amazon that caused problems with my printer.  It probably was an issue with the temperature profile, but it was too painful to try to figure out.

Definitely depends on the composition of the PLA that you're using. There are different blends available now - and there are also filaments that have metal suspended in them, and wood, etc.

Some plastic filaments also break down with sunlight, that's something to be wary of.

Looking forward to a time when printing with durable materials becomes less expensive, less complex, and environmentally friendly.  I've always done FDM printing with PLA, and it's great for prototyping, but I've found that some of my earlier projects have started to become brittle and break apart when handled.
