Server Problems from 20th April - Poll inside and Now Resolved

Hey everyone,

We've been experiencing some issues with the Azure backend that supports the element14 Community today, the servers were claiming to be offline and so the azure message bus was unavailable and this was causing all sorts of problems, from us being able to administrate it, to hogging up e-mail notifications.

We restarted the servers within the past hour, so you may see some improvement, and the sysadmin we have is looking at the settings (they're based in America so are now looking at it, we're also waiting on Microsoft / Verint to get back to the team).

This issue should now be resolved.

I can see Jan Cumps reported a couple of issues, and I suspect this is related to them.

Thanks for your patience.

This is a REALLY helpful post Andrew J . The recommendations you have here I will take to see how quickly we can affect some of these changes - especially the "recent content" view as you describe it …

"Late Saturday evening, Microsoft let us know the issue was caused by some sort of bug and they manually fixed it." Thanks Microsoft, thanks. Geez.

Changed my vote to " Are less than they were ". My reason for the original vote was because the instability. And that's resolved. I claim that I can change my mind as long as voting season is open :…

I've experienced some issues but have to confess, I have become a user. I suspect there is an issue, I don't make a report but wait to see if it still exists when I visit later.

The extended implementation scheduled from the old site to the new site has worn down my resolve to report issues but rather just find a way I can live with it. The micro point 6 print offering in the reply post is an example.

I look to the menu to find a text fatting button so the print is larger but that offering isn't universal. It is only supported in select areas. Alas, CTRL-Scroll-button becomes my ***-poor way to read what I write:(

Appreciate the update. Koodos to JC for his diligence in reporting.

There is an element of fatigue when something keeps persisting. I can respect that and recommend people look after themselves.

I was receiving spurious notifications (notification badge shows one notification but opening says there are no new notifications) starting yesterday and I am missing one notification regarding reply on my blog post. But now everything looks ok.

Gaining familiarity using Verint and the improvements by the developers/support team have made the site more usable, but the chronic server problems make the site very painful to use.  I've about gotten to the point as others have that I don't report problems anymore because in all probability it is a server issue.  Fatigue is an understatement...

The dev' team were going to do a 'release' today to push a number of site fixes, but this has been delayed again as they talk with Verint and Microsoft to try to resolve the issues.

I voted Getting Worse, because we have data loss since 3 days.
I believe that a lot is resolved, but losing member content while writing it is (I think :) ) a worse situation than having render/query bugs.

That happened to me earlier today but fortunately it wasn’t a lot of content.

My lack of confidence in the site started from the very week it was moved. So many posts failed to materialize frustration was an understatement. At one point I was unable to communicate. A member recommended writing posts independent of the site and then moving the content once finished. I started pre-writing longer posts in LibreOffice and never changed.

The move experience was not pleasant. Yes, issues are being addressed but not enough to give me confidence. It doesn't appear I will be eliminating that process anytime soon if the content is being lost.

In fairness, it’s only ever happened to me once.  I’m not overly concerned and even in the old software I would create larger amounts of content offline before pasting it in.

I just experienced the missing message thing just now, I don't mind retyping since I didn't in this case type a lot, but I think it's confusing the person whose forum question it was, since whatever they are responding to (I can see them typing) isn't appearing for me either. It's like ships in the night, neither of us can communicate with each other.

If it were not for these recent issues, I'd have said the site issues are slightly less, however the main painful thing (lack of recent activity view) is still there, and it impacts a lot, I bet if that's resolved people will be super-happy more happy* with the site.

    * Agree that the text when typing messages is tiny, that too would greatly improve usability if it were larger
