The element14 roadtests are a great way to learn new things. Whenever I see a test that interests me, I enroll. Success is not guaranteed. I've been selected for some, not for others. In this series I'll explain how I decide to enroll or not. I'll also show how I build my case, including some examples from my applications.
I might also try to build a case for a new roadtest interactively in this series... You can give me advice on what I should add, delete, change, improve... |
When do I enroll?
There are several things that drive the decision to apply. When the roadtest subject is something I can use here and now, it's easy.
But in most cases, I'm a bit hesitant. Sometimes I do a quick view and don't come back. Other times I think I can't be bothered, but find myself revisiting the roadtest announcement a few times. That for me is a sign that I'm interested, but that I don't know that yet...
Sometimes I start searching for more documentation, and I find that pulse of inspiration. A sign for me that it might be worth enrolling.
I mull over the subject a few days. And when I come up with a nice application story, I apply. If the inspiration doesn't come, I leave it to that. It's a sign that I'm not the right one to review the thing.
In the next post, I'll show how I build my application text.
