Hello everyone, I'm new in arduino, and i have a project by using nokia lcd 5110 and i bought it yesterday. But when i connect it with my arduino like in this tutorial https://learn.sparkfun.com/tutorials/graphic-lcd-hookup-guide/hardware-assembly--hookup , the backlight is on but the screen is blank(nothing show up in there just a blue color from backlight).         So can you please help me to solve this problem?image

Thanks for the tip! there is now a 330 ohm resistor in series with the BL(led) pin. I got this to work in the end by tweaking the bias and contrast settings on the lcd this tutorial: https://www.youtube…

I hate to state the obvious, but if it's one of those predone jobs then either it may be wired wrong or configured wrong. That's where I would look.

actually i have changed the configuration but the lcd still same like that. And because of that i confused with this. And i want to ask, do i have to use level shifter ic for this lcd? or replace the level shifter ic with resistor?

I'm not sure. I was merely speculating how I would troubleshoot it. I'm not familiar with the Arduino or that LCD.

According to this link the basic Arduino is 5V and the display is 3V, so the level shifter is recommended. From your link:

"The easiest hookup is to connect the Arduino pins directly to the LCD. To allow for this easy hookup, you’ll need a 3.3V-operating Arduino like the 3.3V/8MHz Pro or 3.3V Pro Mini." I think I'd try the resistors first, since they're likely more handy than the level shifter. I would also check the continuity of those wires.

    Hi Bob,

There are a few things that may have went wrong...

    1). the LCD came defected.

2). you may have connected the Vcc of LCD to the 5 volts instead of 3.3 volts rail of arduino..

Post a clearer picture where I can see the LCD and Arduino both, with the jumper wires..

    Hi Bob,

I don't know if you have noticed it or not but the pin configuration of your LCD and the LCD in the tutorial are different...
