I want to design a low cost Data acquisition system for the Piezoelectric accelerometer.

I want to design a low cost Data acquisition system for the Piezoelectric accelerometer. I am new in it. I have some idea that we can make a DAQ by using ADC and teensy microcontroller board and ADC should have high sampling rate (>1Msps). but i have no idea which ADC should I purchase and how to design it. If someone help me regarding this I will be thankful to you.

It would be better if you explained what you want to achieve rather than suggesting some parts.

Thing you need to consider are:

    frequency range

    dynamic range

    maximum recording time

    operating temperature range

If you know the type of accelerometer you will use and describe the application a bit it will help.

Typical commercial systems for accelerometers use 24 bit sigma delta ADCs with sampling rates at approx 250ks/s for 100kHz bandwidth.

Faster systems exist but are very unusual.

Do you want to make your own to save money or for performance reasons ?

There was a recent review on E14 of a Pi Hat which did a reasonable job in this area.

Thank you for your reply.. Actually I have piezoelectric accelerometer. I need to characterize this accelerometer and acquire the data. I have signal conditioning circuit also. Only I need to design my own low cost DAQ. By which I can sample the signal upto 15khz and acquire the data and process the data.

I think it's going to be hard to achieve a low cost DAQ and also achieving 1MSPS sampling rate.

How are you planning to characterise the accelerometer ?

Is this a one off application, a hobby project, a study project or a plan for a product.

Unless you give us a good deal more detail about the problem it isn't possible to make sensible recommendations.
