OOB Demo Fail - Serial Connection Gone

Hi all,

 

Just opened up my new UltraZed-EV Starter Kit and followed the QuickStart Guide Instructions for getting the Out of Box Demo with a blinking light flashing.

 

Only problem is neither Terra Term nor PuTTy show any data over the connection as described, and there's no blinking light. I triple checked that all the switches were right, drivers downloaded, bit rate and other settings were correct, but I can't seem to resolve the issue. Any thoughts or tips on how to rectify the situation? Thanks!

  • Thanks everybody for your helpful suggestions! tl;dr it looks like we'll be sending the board back to the manufacture for replacement, because it was dead from the start.

     

    I followed the exact same instructions for a different board - everything worked perfectly. Blue LED, Blinking Red LED, info over the serial connection, everything. Which also meant the drivers on the computer and listening on the serial ports was on happening correctly.

     

    I got a great SD card image from a friend who also has a board, and we tried various combination of each person's carrier board, SD card, and Ultrazed-EV, with every combination working except for when my Ultrazed EV board was involved, which is very sad, but good to know that I'm not *completely* incompetent, just marginally so.

    Thanks for letting us know, and sorry you were shipped a defective SOM.  Hopefully you will get a replacement soon.
