Failed to create an Azure Sphere tenant

Question

I have been trying to setup azure sphere under my school account. I noticed when I login to Azure i get a message "You are not eligible for an Azure subscription". I'm thinking this isn't going to work well with azure sphere so I create/login to a private .onmicrosoft account but now I get an error "Unable to create a Azure Sphere tenant". I did not claim my device on my school account but I did create a tenant. What could be the problem? Have I gone beyond the point of no return by creating a tenant under my school account?

I had problems with the device being permanently unresponsive. It turned out a service (Azure Sphere Communication Service or something like that) was failing to start. I reinstallation of the SDK did the trick.

Are we beginning to understand why they are giving them away !

(I think it's fairly clear that it's a work in progress.)

For my own part I hadn't realised that you can only run the MS tools under Windows 10 - so until I get a Windows 10 machine running I'm paused.

i had a similar issue with this AzureSphereDeviceCommunicationService ; it kept on restarting after the SDK installation , i had to Disable it , reboot my laptop , then i enabled it only in manual mode now it automatically runs when i connect the dev board , it is an open VPN client that is preconfigured to connect to MS servers

Note : 1) Creation of a new tenant account with a particular device attached, is only allowed once 2) The attached device can only be "claimed" to a tenant once To check if you've already created a tenant under your AAD, use the following command: azsphere tenant list PS: Two tips in context of azsphere commands: - suffix the command with -? for help on that command - suffix the command with -v for verbose output from that command

Per the clarification on this topic, at the Microsoft MSDN support forum : Use of different work/school accounts for your Azure Sphere tenant and Azure subscription does not "brick" your Starter Kit, it just adds uneccessary complexity If a tenant already exists, do NOT create another one unless your company/organization has good reason for doing so! Microsoft recommends each company/organization only creates one Azure Sphere tenant. Note: Beyond the one-time tenant assignment, Microsoft enables a variety of deployment mechanisms to support OTA updates of different SKUs, SKU sets, regional versions, etc https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure-sphere/deployment/deployment-concepts
