Azure Sphere Contest Server - Wi-Fi not configured

Question

Trying to do the daily "Azure Sphere Starter Kit Sync with Contest Server" thingie

When I click on "Read Device", Device IP is "Wi-Fi not configured"
- ==> the response:
  - "Device ID" is valid
  - "Device MAC" is valid
  - "Device IP" Wi-Fi not configured
If I enter the following at the command prompt:
- azsphere device wifi show-status
- ==> the response:

SSID	(for my eyes only)
Configuration state	enabled
Connection state	: connected
Security state	: psk
Frequency	: 2437
Mode	: station
Key management	: WPA2-PSK
WPA State	: COMPLETED
IP Address	: 192.168.1.111
MAC Address	(for my eyese only)

Because "Wi-Fi not configured", when I tap the "Send to Server" button, an error message pops up with "deviceIP":"Wi-Fi not configured","error":"0"

So, what is going on with the app? The app is not seeing that the device is provisioned on the network and thus not allowing me to log-in for that daily clicks.

How am I supposed to log 15 days if the app is not working like it is supoosed to?

As Clem stated, reconnecting to the wifi can sometimes take a bit of time. I use a PAUSE statement instead. Edit the sk_check.bat. ... azsphere device restart echo. PAUSE <--- add this or put the delay here. I used free hotel wifi this week to check in and it took about 7-8 seconds to reconnect. My 5 second delay wasn't giving me enough time.

What happens if you eject USB and re-plug it back in? For me the WiFi reconnected. Also I modified the bat file to put in a 5 second Pause command. Seems like scanning the WiFi in my neighbourhood takes long time since many address near by.

I'm getting that popup and no wifi listed as well, but I'm getting counts anyway.

OK - nevermind. For some reason the map was stuck showing 9/2, now it's showing 9/3 with the updated count. Must've kept a cached version... The timeout in the .bat worked for me, for the "WiFi not configured" error related to registration.

I have same issue getting reply from Azure cloud server.

I am not getting server confirmation for today having ping the azure server several times today. This is unusual. It looks like the Azure Cloud is down. I hope not being affected by hurricane Dorian

Anyone having same issue?

In "sk_check.bat" I added to the "discover" section a "timeout 30" statement as shown below. Using the "timeout" statement allows one to overide the timeout via a keypress. For my setup, I typically require a minimum of 5 seconds so wifi could provision. Easy fix for the problem :discover echo .... WAIT: Device Azure Sphere OS restart .... echo .... WAIT: Check-in with Microsoft server .... echo. azsphere device restart echo. timeout 30

I've noticed a slight delay on the count incrementing after sending to server - a few minutes. Nothing long, just a long enough pause to get me wondering if something was amiss in spite of the confirmation pop-up. And then the updated count shows up.

Yesterday during the day (2-5 CST), I had much troubles contacting the cloud to build a tenant. After that, it worked. Have not tried today...

I did a test under a VM, and the plug and re-plug does something to Azure Sphere allowing the WiFi to reconnect properly. Seems like if you leave it in for awhile (time not know?), it drops the WiFi. Clem

I was having the same issue; I edited the sk_check.bat to add the timeout that's been suggested and that resolved the WiFi issue for check-in, but after sending my info to the server I'm still showing the same count.

...is there a delay on the count...?
