I think there is no problem. And in fact https://www.raspberrypi.org/magpi/using-3d-printer-raspberry-pi/ describes software and setup. They include magpi.cc/2vBupZw for software image (Pi 3 not Pi 4). I am guessing Pi 4 should work as well using Buster. Give it a try!

There is a recent Element14 Presents video to make your own 3D printer. Check this out - Episode 414: Raspberry Pi 4 Experimental Resin 3D Printer if this is what you've asked. Or if you wanted to control your 3D printer with RPi then go with clem57 's suggestion. You can also check Octoprint which is also good, however, RPi 4 support is not out yet ( https://community.octoprint.org/t/raspberry-pi-4-is-out/10332 )
