BLE MOD

I've bought a couple of BLE MOD's for the AVNET Azure Sphere Developemnt Baord V2. I need to programm the BLE MOD, the Laird documentation tell me I need at least RTS, TXD, RXD, CTS, and RTD exposed. I don't see a USB/TTL programmer that actually exposes all of those, any suggestions?

Hi Brian, Yeap, that's what I figured out, hence the first thing to do is build an example app, yours, so I ordered the J-Link, still cheaper than building one.

Hi,

If you mean DTR, then you could DIY one:

Building a USB-C USB-UART Board

That one has RXD, TXD, RTS, CTS and DTR. The PCB files are at that link, and Farnell has the Cypress chip in-stock. There may be ready-made USB UART boards with that chip, but I don't know if they expose the pins, whereas that DIY board does. I use that board regularly, although I don't often need the additional flow control pins, and it has been reliable.

I don't know what voltage you need, but that board supports 5V and 3.3V, and 1.8V is possible too, although the 1.8V option needs a wire link patched on the board.

However, perhaps you can use SWD (i.e. using any J-Link programmer, or alternatively use the Laird development kit for that BLE module, which contains an on-board J-Link). I've not used these Laird devices, but I think that SWD may work.

I had to flash new firmware onto my BLE PMOD when I developed this blog: (1) Azure Sphere BLE Sensor Monitoring using Laird BT510 devices - element14 Community, however I conveniently glossed over the BLE flashing step.

Hi Brian,

Got the J-Link EDU Mini, it unfortuntely doesn't support VCOM's, so I don't see it from voor example UwTerminal, have no clou how to make this work, any suggestions would be welcome.
