Taking it but not doing the hardware side as that gets a bit pricey...

I had the same problem, the math was way above my head... 
However, by understanding the concepts of the math without actually doing it, you can deduct most of the answers...
I managed to pass the class that way and it still gave me a good understanding of the concepts...
