I2C Evaluation on MaaXBoard-mini

japerl20
japerl20 over 4 years ago

It seems like there is a gap in the Linux user manual for the Maaxboard-mini when it comes to i2c. Is there any documentation surrounding this? I can't see any scope activity on pins 27/28 with i2cdetect -y 3, is there some command for enabling the J1 40 pin peripheral extension?

Regards,

Jacob

    Hi Jacob,

Quick question, what out of box image are you using? Are you using the Yocto, Debian, or Android image.

Also, have you taken a look at this blog? Sending Data to Azure with MaaXBoard

It involves the MaaXBoard, not the Mini however it should be fairly similiar.

I am using the Debian image.

No, I hadn't seen that blog although it doesn't address the issue I'm seeing (with 2 maaxboard-mini dev boards) which is the i2cdetect -l returns with I2C0 and I2C3 (which in the documentation it is referred to as I2C1 and I2C4 respectively), but it does not return any information on the I2C's that are exposed on the 40 pin extension header (which would be I2C1 and I2C2 on the board or I2C2 and I2C3 in the documentation).

    Hi Jacob,

I talked to my colleague about this issue and learned the Debian image out of box doesn't support I2C on the 40 pin expansion connector. He reccomended one of the following.

    1. Use the Yocto Lite image when does support it

    2. rebuild the kernel with the latest source code in 4.14.98 to enable I2C development.
